Our Start

The birth of "I Am YOU Wraparound Services 2.0" was a remarkable journey born from compassion, resilience, and the strength of community. Shawna Spencer, the founder, embarked on this transformative path after experiencing a broken engagement in March. Seeking solace and a change of scenery, she decided to travel to Las Vegas with her prepaid arrangements from her broken engagement, unaware of the profound impact this journey would have on her life and the lives of others.

During her time in Las Vegas, a seemingly ordinary need led to an unexpected encounter that set the stage for change. Ordering food through Uber Eats, Shawna met Ebonie and her daughter, sparking a conversation that unveiled Ebonie's struggles as a single mother of four, including two disabled children. This serendipitous meeting ignited a deep sense of empathy within Shawna, compelling her to share Ebonie's story with her network.

The community's response was nothing short of remarkable. Shawna's efforts to rally support and raise awareness about Ebonie's challenges triggered a collective outpouring of goodwill. Together, they managed to lift Ebonie's family from a challenging living situation in a transit hotel to a safer and more secure home.

Shawna's stay in Las Vegas extended as she was determined to continue supporting Ebonie and her family. In December, her commitment remained steadfast. Collaborating with organizations like Sister Strong and with the support of Bobbie Belden, she orchestrated efforts to provide furniture, essentials, and support for Ebonie's family, who were living without beds in their dire circumstances.

This collaboration beautifully exemplified the power of community engagement and underscored the potential for businesses, like Shawna's boutique, Only One Boutique, to drive positive change. Through the fusion of philanthropy and commerce, Shawna harnessed the support of her customers, channeling clothing purchases towards meaningful assistance. The result not only transformed living conditions for Ebonie's family but also a profound demonstration of how businesses can serve as agents of social change.

The journey of Shawna Spencer to establish "I Am YOU Wraparound Services 2.0" was deeply personal as well. She was also driven by her granddaughter, who faces celebral palsy, to create a support system for families in similar circumstances.
